Build a Nest Egg While Bonding with Family

Advocacy and Support

Over the years, I have wondered how I could be productive with my son and still earn a little money with him. As a parent of three children on the autism spectrum, I am looking for opportunities to get them involved with the public or interact with me to do something that will enhance our quality of life. (Note: This article has referral and affiliate links, which helps maintain our site and continue to provide quality content.).
For example, this blog is an opportunity to help shed some light on autism and how we are contributing to educate and provide some level of optimism to the challenges to living with severe autism.  The creation of this blog specifically started with contacting bluehost.com for helping set up the URL and site. Over that time, I have intermittently been able to provide some content, but will need to post more regularly to assist my audience and other families in my niche.

  1. Various shopping applications can also assist in developing a larger nestegg

A. Shopping applications also pay you back for using them to assist you to shop and also track your shopping habits. Applications pay you back for using their services and vendors pay the respective application back for marketing their products and services.

Ibotta has allowed me to earn over $500 since starting in 2018. It also allows me to try new products, which is something I also enjoy doing…trying and learning new things.

Shopkick is a new application I have tried and have earned $35 and is similar to Ibotta.

Swagbucks is a universal app that has surveys, rewards for buying and other avenues to gain rewards. Since becoming a member, I have earned over $260 and have become addicted to their services.

Dosh is a decent rewards application that has rewarded me for shopping at Walmart and Sam’s Club. Each month rewards change and provide many opportunities. I have earned over $125 on this application since I started.

Rakuten is another shopping rewards application that provides benefits. I always try to go to these applications and see if rewards are available at stores I am shopping at online, curbside, or store pickup. Then I can earn more. Rakuten has rewarded me over $60 since I started.

B. Scanning receipts where you are paid back for the information you provide on your shopping habits. Rewards come in the form of electronic gift certificates or cash directly deposited into your PayPal account. I prefer the option of the cash deposit into my PayPal, but also like the applications that you can redeem for Amazon e-gift cards. We use Amazon all the time and have no problem spending free money.

Swagbucks also allows you to scan receipts from stores and most restaurants while paying you back 2 cents for each receipt. These pennies add up for receipts you would typically just throw away. Cash in rewards for PayPal cash or gift cards.

Fetch Rewards scans receipts and rewards based on promotions on various products. More points for promotional products. Starbucks and Amazon gift cards are my preference when cashing in my rewards. Since starting, I have earned over $25.

Coinout is an application solely rewarding your for scanning clear pictures of all your current receipts. This application was promoted on SharkTank and has earned me nearly $40 in PayPal cash.

ReceiptPal is a decent application for scanning your daily receipts, but

C. Google Rewards is another opportunity if you are ok with being tracked by the application. It will follow your location collecting data when you are at certain locations (near businesses). For example, I have been asked if I recently shopped at places like Lowe’s, Dollar Tree, Kohl’s and Home Depot. The follow up questions are when you last visited and if you used a credit card or other form of payment at that location. Most of the time I was near the store but did not buy anything so I just answer that I did not enter the store. Google provides various monetary returns for each time you answer the three question survey. After you accumulate $2 or more, Google rewards sends you a cash payment directly to PayPal. Since starting this in December 2018, we have earned over $80. Granted this may not seem like a lot of money, but every dollar can be reinvested into something that can provide greater returns.

2. PayPal rewards can be used to purchase Cryptocurrency as well as Coinbase. I have started buying cryptocurrency in November 2020 with the extra income earned through the above options. Since then I have noticed my rewards increase by a factor of 3. My $300 grew to over $900 during the bull run up in December. In the near future, I will have a follow up on this topic. You can also use Crypto.com as another location to purchase Cryptocurrency.

3. Investing extra cash in Dividend stocks as well as growth stocks. Invest on behalf of your child and have him or her follow a set of stocks with the money they earned for your fiduciary oversight.

4. Sliver shares through firms that offer this option is key so you can own a portion of the stock at a purchase of only $5. Acorn is okay for providing the retail investor with the ability to invest but has high fees. I would recommend Schwab.com because they have zero fees when trading and also offer sliver shares allowing you to gain a piece of a large company share.

5. Earn additional income by offering your talents on application platforms such as Fiver, Upwork are two that I have used. These applications are very competitive since there are many people looking to work from home. Try to focus on work that you really enjoy and build an audience so you gain more clout. The more positive reviews and jobs completed the more opportunities will arise.

6. Sell your junk or other peoples junk on Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, VarageSale, and EBay. What items sell the best??? That all depends on whom is looking on the platform you are selling and if your price is outside what they are willing to pay. I recommend selling at a reasonable price or so that you get something that is good for your nest egg, but also attracts more people to have interest in what you are selling. I have found if I am too greedy items take forever to sell, if I lower by a few dollars every so many days I usually hit the sweet spot for consumers to buy. The nice part of selling locally is that you meet new people and see how they will be using the item you just sold them. Other opportunities involve sending items in the mail. This is good if you have the buyer pay for the cost or have the cost of the item cover your shipping charge. I have sold several items on Facebook market place to people in California, Texas, Ohio, New Jersey, Florida and once the item is satisfary to the buyer you will receive payment directly to your bank account via a PayPal transfer.

7. Cash for Gold has also been an option for the jewelry lying around that you may want to collect the cash for and spend versus having items sit around storing value that you can cash in on now. Cashforgoldusa is a reputable option I have used in the past year and recommend them as an option to liquidate your gold, silver, and gem stones.

8. Cash for electronics has also been somewhat lucrative selling on Facebook Marketplace, Buyback.com, or you could also try the Whistle application. Instead of throwing your items in the trash, try selling them. This is a lot better for the environment since you are not putting the items in the landfill and is also good for you when building your nest egg. You can also try the application “Whistle” Use the link below to check out an app called Whistle. When you sell an electronic device using Whistle, we’ll both get an extra $10! Whistle application.

There is plenty of opportunities available to you just knock and the door shall be opened for you. Then be willing to walk through the door to the other side.
